B2B CyCon Afterglow
Where do I start? I am sitting here in the afterglow of this weekend’s literary cyber convention, the Brain to Books Cyber Convention and Book Expo. #B2BCyberCon2017 to those who are hashtag savvy.
At first, I felt extremely overwhelmed. Then, I understood a fundamental concept of the CyCon. There is no wrong way to participate. You just jump in there where you are comfortable and run with it! I spent the most of my weekend hanging out in the various panels and I learned so much.
I woke up this morning with a million and one ideas, nearly 100 new Twitter followers, and a few new subscribers to this site! All in all, it was a success for me!
The highlight of my experience was getting to meet another author who I adore, Suzana J. Linton, who wrote the book Willows of Fate.
Angela B. Chrysler poured her heart into this unique conference experience and it shows. She ensured there were a plethora of opportunities for authors and readers to participate and interact.
My biggest takeaway from the weekend was this: We are our biggest fans. That’s right. On release day, on cover reveal day, on “hey here’s another Youtube video” day it is our author community standing first in line. We buy each other’s books and pimp them across the internet. We offer support, advice, and criticism to each other. We are the front lines of the fan club. And that’s okay because authors are readers too.
The writing community is an amazing thing to behold. There are enough readers for every author but there will never be enough books for every reader. Therefore we owe it to each other and to every reader, ever, to maintain this beautiful community. Events like B2B are one of the best ways to do so.
I plan to post here much more frequently and to introduce you to all the amazing authors I call friends. In the meantime, you can catch me hanging out on various social media platforms in between writing ALL OF THE WORDS. (Don’t know where to stalk me online? My links are at the top of this site!)
Until next time, scribe happy and stay sassy!
