Book Update: I Almost Lost Soul Purge!
The other day I felt the writing bug bite so I sat down at the computer and opened Scrivener. And then I opened the project file for Soul Purge. I stared at the screen for a good 5 minutes as panic swept over me. I took a deep breath and remembered that my Scrivener files auto backup to my One Drive. Shew. So I popped over to One Drive to grab the files….
There was NOTHING there. Everything was gone. Every single file. I could not breathe. I was hyperventilating. I realize 50k words is a drop in the bucket for some writers but this project…I have been working on it in bits and pieces for nearly ten years. Out of all my writing, this book is my baby.
My plan is to have this book finished and published this year. I have babied it for far too long and it’s time to put up or shut up. Would the universe really wipe it out now that I was so close? I spent some time crying and did some incoherent babbling on Facebook. Of course, I had some wonderful friends jump in with guidance and advice.
Following the advice I was given combined with some intense Googling (that sounds dirty), I managed to dig into my hard drive and find my file directory. It took a lot of time opening individual files because nothing was labeled. Eventually, I found a majority of the files I needed and began the arduous task of copy/pasting them onto a new doc (in Google Drive this time) and rearranging the chapters because the files were all out of order.
In the end, I found all but approximately 10k words. I still cried a little over those words but what’s a girl to do? I am going to push forward and hope that the new 10k will be even better than what I lost and I will plug on.
I really am excited to finish this story. I truly hope someone will come across it and love it as much as I do.
Until next time, scribe happy and stay sassy!
